Summer Workshops for Kids

Are you looking to beat the summertime boredom? Parents or grandparents looking to find an activity to occupy some of the children’s time this summer? Look to Hutchison House for the answer. We offer a fun alternative to full time camp programs. We start on Thursday mornings and by noon have completed something fun and exciting that your children will love to show off! Programs run from 9:30am – 12pm. The cost is $25 per attendant and pre-registration is required. For ages 6-12. Children are encouraged to bring their own snacks.

July 10- Christmas in July

Get a head start on your holiday fun with several Christmas themed crafts including salt dough ornaments, popsicle stick gingerbread houses and more!

July 17- Under the sea

The ocean is the largest ecosystem in the world with thousands of species of plants and animals. In this activity, children will create their own small aquatic habitat and a variety of sea creatures and plants to live in it. These aquarium jars are fun to play with and will make excellent decorations. Children will also create other undersea fun.

July 24- Rock Art

In this activity, children will create their own kinetic sand and crystal geodes and participate in a supervised scavenger hunt around the museum property.

July 31- Tie Dye

In this activity children will create and dye material two different ways including their own t-shirt. Sizes required upon registration.

August 7- Early Settler Day

Take a step back in time at Hutchison House museum for a fun morning of settler activities including cooking on the fire and old fashioned crafts. Kids will have the option to dress in period costume.

August 21- Bugs

In this activity children will create a variety of different crafts featuring bugs including sun catcher dragonflies, coffee filter butterflies and more!
