Join us Tuesday September 15, 2026 from 7:30-9:00pm for Elwood Jones’ Presentation ‘125 Years of Lawn Bowling in Peterborough.’ Elwood Jones will be presenting his new book “ Bowling on the Green: 125 years of Lawn Bowling in Peterborough’ which he co-authored with longtime Peterborough lawn Bowling Club member Steve Russell. The book chronicles the club’s creation in 1901, its various locations throughout the decades, the stories behind its moves and the people who have maintained the sport. It also outlines how the local sporting scene has changed considerably in 125 years and its impact on lawn bowling.
The Peterborough Historical Society monthly speaker series takes place on the third Tuesday of September, October, November, January, February, March, and May. The meetings are being held at the Lions Club Centre on Burnham Street, starting at 7:30. Members, guests, and the general public are welcome.
