PHS Occasional Papers
In 1980, the Peterborough Historical Society published a historical booklet, The Liftlock Story, by Alicia Perry. The idea was to produce a series of such publications on subjects of local historical interest but there was uncertainty about how frequent the publications could be. For this reason the PHS referred to the booklet, and those that followed, as Occasional Papers.
As things turned out, the Occasional Papers proved to be anything but occasional. The PHS has published one annually now for over forty years, a remarkable achievement for a local historical society. Although “occasional paper” is now a misnomer, the moniker remains.
Members receive the Occasional Paper as a membership benefit. Copies are available for purchase in the Hutchison House Museum Bookshop, as supplies last.
