PHS Volunteering
The Peterborough Historical Society relies extensively on the support of our volunteers.
On the Board of Directors there are opportunities for a range of leadership skills and interests: governance, community collaboration, member engagement and recruitment, marketing, financial oversight, legal oversight, human resources, program development, philanthropy and fundraising.
The PHS accommodates numerous interests and skills to maintain our programs and events: communications, editing, research, writing, publication, education, marketing, record keeping, computer programs, event planning, and many others.
Life as a PHS Volunteer
You will be joining a friendly team keenly interested in the community, and share many rewards and benefits.
Meet New People and Learn New Things
Volunteers come from many different backgrounds with a variety of expertise. They connect PHS and Hutchison House Museum to community networks that sustain the organization’s mission and provide wider knowledge of how the community works. Volunteers gain insight and experience in the operation of a cultural non-profit organization and can learn much that is transferable to other sectors.
Flexible Volunteer Hours
Depending on the tasks undertaken, volunteers will find much flexibility in scheduling their work, whether on-site, at home or elsewhere.
Volunteer Gatherings
Special events will offer recognition, social occasions and opportunities to expand your experience with the PHS, Hutchison House Museum and the community’s history.
